Your WordPress Database

Databases of multiple sub-domains and best practices?
I was wondering the correct way to create multiple subdomains and databases. For example, I love wordpress and phpmydirectory running on blog.domain.com and directory.domain.com. Would not you rather that they share the same database (ie mydb) or split between two to avoid confusion (ie wordpressdb and directorydb). I have read that a practice is that prefixes the tables in a database, but it is the best way to handle on the report? Sonnecting So once a database is what you strive for? So if I have two separate scripts registration in the database I to ensure that both the record with the same credentials and then you can use different databases, as many want, without causing strain on the memory?
It comes down to connect. When connected, you have to specify the engine and database.
