in wordpress, how to publish recent article?

I can create the website using wp3.0 and multiblog, how to publish all articles published recently on a page? or a widget? I use YD Recent Posts Widget plugin, but said to put recent post on the page, I put this code in the template, Where should I place the code in my template? coz my template to use as many. what is the file and line?
