Are we being overwhelmed by immigrants?

Check out this graph - which shows the projection 2007 of the 2001 census, with immigration / Migration of data and projected growth rates of the population of Great Britain. http://andrewwalton.wordpress.com/files/2009/07/population-uk.jpg In other words - the white British or Irish make up about 85% of the population. There are also British Asians and Afro-Caribbean British not counted separately in the statistics. I believe therefore that about 11% or one in nine of the British are immigrants. That hardly counts as over time, Right?

No. Honestly, I think the UK population will always be quite balanced, no matter who we let into the country. I've said somewhere before, but it's just a hyperbole-mail daily. The media love fear mongering and even relatively liberal newspapers seem to have now joined. I would not be surprised if I saw a headline "ASYLUM SEEKERS, MUSLIMS AND SHIRTS - Immigrants are going to kill America." People need to be educated about this is not their fault, however, have been fed biased, partial and in some cases, completely false statistics. In a recent survey:''Only 1 / 4 of people knew that the reason the refugees come to the UK because they are fleeing war or persecution / one in five believes that adapt to half of all the world's refugees, when in fact only 2% live in the UK.''Second, I never understood the problem of having lots of nationalities represented in one place. I went to school with a mix of people from all backgrounds - some rich, others poor. There was a girl in India, a girl from Dubai, one Russian girl, a young German woman, five people from Hong Kong, one from Japan and one of Zambia. It was much more interesting and exciting to be surrounded by different cultures. New York is one of the most cultural in the world and everyone is an immigrant! Has lost none of its "environment"? Not at all. Increased Immigration!
