Usability Factors in Web Design
When a visitor comes to a website, the site has little time to convince that person to stay. If it seems a mess, or is not clear what the site is about, then it is likely that visitors will recover away to a more "useful" for their purposes. Here are some factors to consider when designing or redesigning a website.
Navigation
Navigation should be clear and consistent. Keep in mind the rule of 3, indicating that click any page in a website should not be more than 3 clicks from the homepage. Clarity is essential. If the visitor is lost, the ratio of the user experience is diminished. There must be a clear visual hierarchy. This means that should be clear to the visitor that the categories or topics are divided into pages of the parents. Sometimes this is difficult when it is not obvious where to put a theme. But trying to make it as intuitive as possible. And always taught the way out, that is, always has a home page you can click with a single click from anywhere the user is.
The opposite approach is to design casinos in Las Vegas. Here, the output is marked in accordance with regulations, but is usually not obvious. The idea is to keep people around and the game it is hard to leave. This works for casinos, but does not work for your website.
The concept of "visual affordance" is relevant here. This is the idea that the visual design of an object (whatever that is) should give some indication of how to use it. An example of this would be the icon of the shopping purchase an e-commerce site. Image shopping cart tells users that this is where you will meet with the purchase.
Utility and usability
Try to avoid confusion between the notions of "utility" and "utility." Utility concerns the ability to do many useful things in one place. Usability refers to how easy it is for users to realize these things. Usability shows the probability that the user is actually performing the desired tasks. A visitor is less likely to contact if the contact is hard to find. A visitor is less likely to buy If you stop along the purchase path. For e-commerce in particular, once a visitor is engaged in the buying process, the process should be compared to back to the minimum. Requests for information will only result in user frustration. And they will not return without a reason.
Trade electronic
I'll give you an example of a frustrating user experience. I am looking for an iPhone online for prices and specifications and packages. What I got was a telco ask my client. which of course is buried with bills, I try not to look. So they put up a barrier immediately. Presumably it was about my interests store data for marketing purposes, but it is the wrong approach.
Mobile Interaction
How does this site look good on a mobile browser? If the answer is I do not know because I can not see well, then it is time to act. A growing number of visitors to your Probably site comes to you from mobile devices and is expected to increase further. In the absence of a Web-enabled mobile or a site specifically designed for the mobile platform, the visitor is unlikely to have a good experience. Therefore, it is less likely to return and less likely to perform the desired action on your site. If you have a site built with WordPress then you could look at installing a plugin like WP touch to make your site an adequate way.
"No Make Me Think "
This is the title of a book by Steve Krug. It's a great way to become familiar with the principles of usability and is a great (and quick) read.
