WordPress Tags Not Working

The placement of two images side by side in simple html?
I wish I knew how to put two images side by side in HTML. I have to put the two images aligned center and next to each other, both with a link to different content (which is why I chose not to make a single photo and paste it). It has to work with allowed tags in WordPress. Thanks in advance
