WordPress Security - How to protect your WordPress Installation from hackers

There are some simple steps you can take to protect all facilities WordPress is configured. But why worry about security?

This is why:

I had two WordPress blogs hacked in the past. That was a time when I was doing very little internet marketing, and until he found time to address the situation (months later), these sites were penalized in the search engines. They were not removed, but the classification is reduced.

Now we are entering into specific things to WordPress. Whenever you install WordPress, you have to edit config-sample.php and rename it to config.php. You need to install data database there.

There are some other changes to do so.

There is a section config-sample.php entitled "Key authentication." There are four definitions in the block. There is a link within that section of code. You have to enter the link in your browser, copy the contents you to return and replace keys that have the unique pseudo-random keys provided by the site. This makes it harder for attackers to automatically generate a "registered" cookie on your site.

The next step is to change the prefix table of the default "wp_." This is the section on WordPress database table prefix. No matter what you change it to, you can use alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores. This is called SQL injection attacks thwart, where an attempt was made by an attacker to cause WordPress to run some SQL code that has a undesirable place. That code could add a new user with root privileges to your WordPress site.

Note that you should only do this last step in the new facility. If you want to do it for existing facilities, must also change all the names of the tables in the database.

Finally, installing WordPress plugin security scanning check most of this for you, and alert you to anything you might have lost. It will also tell a user named "admin" exists. Of course, that's your administrative user name. You can follow a link and find instructions to change the name if desired. Personally, I think a password protection is good enough, and I've followed these steps, there have been no attacks successfully in numerous blogs that I run.

Finally, WordPress Security will also tell you that there is no htaccess in wp-admin / directory. You can place a.htaccess file in this directory if you wish, and can be used to control access to the wp-admin directory by IP address or address range. The details of how are available on the network.

However, I recommend you install the plugin Login LockDown any.htaccess instead of controls. That stop sign requests is allowed from a specific IP address for an hour after three failed attempts. If you do that, you can still access your admin panel, while outside the office, yet still
