WordPress extreme modification.?

To all the experts out there, I am a newbie wordpress / coding, but I have a couple of friends that I can help if I ask for something specific. I'm thinking about changing my website in html, because the Google ranking / crawling and after reading a lot of online articles that he was impressed with a reputation for wordpress. The top of my website (where the menu is) is very similar to the website advertising Mother (http://www.mothergrapevine.com).
