WordPress, Joomla, MODx CMS - What I can use?

Today new webmasters have many luxuries free systems content management to put their sites together. However, there are hundreds of them, each with very different professional and cons. I tried some of them even tried to get by writing my own one! However what makes the system sensitive content management, at least, what makes a sentient being that the prices of all to use? Once I started to learn the code of the network, I had to do my websites from scratch, or might use templates Microsoft FrontPage or Microsoft Word * shudder. There options for use of portals in the forums to make web pages, but were never very good websites unless the life of a coding template. More recently, the network has reached to life and there are plenty of options for webmasters to build their sites. Some of the codes I've used is Joomla, WordPress and MODx CMS. I added plugins modifications to achieve what I wanted on my site. I even got frustrated and tried to code my own CMS. Anyway, that, in addition, that one should use? Actually alternative is personal, however, here are some pointers I learned ... ? WordPress is the system to use if you want to use a blog.
