Eight reasons to use WordPress as a CMS for church website

I am a strong supporter of free software and technologies based on cloud to the churches, and WordPress is at the top of my list! I've been using for four years and its current state, I compared some of the proprietary systems more expensive on the market when it comes to content management to churches and ministries. Here are some of my reasons:

WordPress is the code open

Open source has two major advantages for churches. One is that it is usually free for the end user. This is not always true, but in most cases, the open source software is distributed freely. The second advantage is that a whole community of developers are working to improve but these improvements are implemented in a controlled environment. Of course, this can lead to some inconsistencies in coding styles among developers, but is generally an environment for innovation.

WordPress is great

WordPress is used by millions. Microsoft uses it, Adobe uses, and many other companies also used. It has a great community and shows no signs of slowing in the short term.

WordPress is easy Subjects

WordPress themes are endless, but with the emergence of themes high quality, middle-of-the-road solution is often reached with code excellent with many extra features at a very low cost point.

Even custom designs can be easily integrated into your system, flexibility offered by 100%.

WordPress is easily extended

Out of the box, WordPress is great, but is also very easy and extended. There are thousands of WordPress plugins available as open source solutions for almost every need, whether event calendars, contact forms, shopping carts, slideshows, and integration of social media.

WordPress is easy to install

Most church Web sites works easily in a shared hosting environment, which is very affordable, and most hosting companies offer an easy way installing WordPress, the use of Fantastico, which takes only a few clicks. But even to install WordPress from scratch, the old way it takes less than five minutes.

WordPress is agile

Proprietary systems often share a disadvantage - they are inflexible. To make changes quickly is often not an option, but as new technologies are developed (which happens daily), WordPress is immediately adaptable to almost any kind of change through the morphing web becoming social.

WordPress is easy to handle

I have trained pastors and church secretaries to use WordPress as a content management system, some of which are rarely used e-mail. If you can use the desktop publishing system average can be use WordPress. You can easily add text, photos, videos, etc. with a simple WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).

WordPress is shareable and portable

Out of the box, WordPress has a strong feature of RSS. Your site automatically produces an RSS feed of their content more recent. All categories, each label, and the pursuit of each can also have an RSS feed, as well as comments. Therefore the establishment of a podcast is as easy as designating a category as the category of your podcast, audio attachments to messages, then the power is iTunes feed (which is even easier using Feedburner.

There are hundreds of possible content management systems for the website of his church, but WordPress beats all others when it comes to ease of use and expandability.
