WP 4 Organize and Effective action plans

1. Their goal:

Planning a career change is very similar to mapping the route of a road trip. If you do not know where it goes, you can not decide how to get there, but if you know where to go, you get faster. Objectives as "Back to school" are too general and not specific enough. You have to translate these goals into specific statements such as "entering accounting program in a college in the fall "or" For the next two months, looking for work in the computer field values. You have to know exactly what you want to do and when.

2. Plan earlier:

One of the best ways forward is to plan to ago. Start by asking yourself if you can achieve your goal today. If not, why do you think it is? What you have to do first? Is there anything you have to do before that? Keep thinking the opposite way up to the tasks that could be done today. This will help you reach the starting point of the goal.

For example, if your goal is to have a business management program two years, could start today? No, you have to be accepted into the first program. Could be accepted today? No, you must apply first. Could you apply today? No, you have to decide which post-secondary institutions to apply. Could you decide today? No, you have to do some research first and so on. I could do this all day, but you get the point. No worry if your list of things to do becomes several lists.

3. Deal with their fears and expectations of himself:

Review your list of things you have to do to achieve your goal. Do you think you do? If you have questions, take some time to think first. Are your expectations realistic? Has succeeded or failed in the tasks that were similar to this before? What can you do to improve your chances of success this time? They are a professional procrastinator? If so, what can done to ensure that you will keep going until you reach your goal? Are you afraid of failure? If so, work on improving the skills that are needed. Or try the waters by taking an evening or distance education course before enrolling in a joint program. If you are having trouble identifying your fears or find how to deal with them, talk to people you trust. Ask for their suggestions, but always make their own decisions.

4. Put your plan into action from the list:

At this stage, is likely to have more than one list of things to do and, if necessary, some plans for avoiding or dealing with potential problems. Now you have to put them all together in a broad plan. Must do list in the order that must be completed and set deadlines for the completion of the major plans. Planners remain successful career on the road with a variety of methods, such as:

- Marking of tasks in a calendar month (taking into account the important dates, such as application deadlines or action plans).

- Make weekly or daily to-do lists and cross off tasks as they are completed.

- Use a computer program to create timeline charts which give their time limits to complete tasks.

- Using a commercial appointment book or notebook, and even a palm pilot with a new page for each day or week.

Use whatever method works best for you. If absolutely necessary, ask a friend to check their progress or questions from time to time about their successes, because it is more likely to get things done if you know you'll be asked about it.
