How to get rid of these errors wordpress?

I manually installed WordPress on my server hosting company. I received an error message, the 3 from my board: "RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Could not connect to an IP number wordpress.org: Permission denied", and when I tried to import existing export file or find a wordpress plugin I "an" unexpected error occurred during HTTP request from the API "I tried to change time setting, but does not work. All the threads I have followed or resolved with the change timeout or connection with any solution. Help with this is greatly appreciated. PS I have already cleared the cache and it is a new installation of wordpress. WordPress v3.1 has won several sites I and WordPress support forums and I'm still looking for a solution. Check with your host and make sure that did not incorporate some safety measures to keep grabbing things wordpress from the outside. If you have installed remove and install the plugins one by one. Use ftp to upload plugins and themes - do not have this problem. Every time I've seen this error was due to the host did something, or someone who was a free host.
