Update WordPress. Why is it so difficult?

I started a blog on a Yahoo website and had bought an older version WordPress. I'm trying to upgrade to the new version and am having a difficult time because they do not understand any of the directions! Help! Can anyone suggest a solution for me?

Not really that hard. Depending on the age of your installation, take a look at this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/ Easy to use, just upload it, but you need a backup of your database and files.
