"Thelonious" WordPress 3.0 Review

Has been available for several weeks, so I thought I'd write a few words about of my experiences using the latest (and greatest?) version of WordPress.

The first thing to say is that the transition has been quite simple, the update is quite simple using the automatic update, and nearly all of my "standard" plugins (by that I mean 5.10 The use of in most facilities) are the authors who provided the update and the fact that everything ran smoothly.

The administration panel interface manages to appear familiar yet uncomplicated. In fact, a couple of weeks in and I've almost completely forgotten how WordPress used to look. I can say now is cleaner, more refined and feels like a heavyweight CMS instead of its historical status as a simple blogging platform. There is nothing there to "pull" however. Everything is more or less in what used to be, so fortunately there is no real learning curve for developers and end users. The update introduces additions rather than radical changes to the administration panel.

So What's new? Well, we now have custom backgrounds and headers are available from the administration panel. We also have a long-awaited feature that allows menu navigation to be easily managed from the admin panel. This includes a payload and drop to arrange the pages is very good for anyone with experience previous WordPress menu ordering process! WordPress MU has now also been combined to allow multiple blogs running from a standard installation, ideal I'm sure for many and is definitely a natural progression for the software.

One of the biggest (and most obvious) additions is a new subject standard. 'Twenty Ten' is a modern, well thought out experiments designed to allow complete with the new features in WordPress. Its looks great, just outside of the box and I'm sure there will be more than one new blog this "more or less as is'. I like, it's clean, simple and professional, like the panel new administration. As you might have guessed this new version is named after Thelonious Monk rightly famous for their adaptation and (to use the terminology WordPress) 'personalization' of the tunes played.

A review is much appreciated, that shows developers have heard suggestions from the WordPress community. An update that combines a minimal learning curve, the new issue of great and refined the administration panel, lead WordPress 4.0! ...
