the most useful programs I use daily did not cost me anything. I could live without Microsoft Office, but would have a fight on their hands if WordPress or any my Google applications. Anyway, here is a list of the top 10 free and open source software should be a part of each filing system. Oh by the way, I know this list is all the software in Windows.

Here we go, no particular order ...

1. Google Picassa

This program is so useful as a pocket of a shirt. In addition to reading almost all file types known to man (even RAW images from digital SLR my gun!) that organizes everything quickly and easily. Can not find the ad or graphic background you know that was the last week? Open Picassa and all graphics in the system is going to fly by the movement of a mouse.

In addition to its ability to read, organize and search for video and graphics files in the system. It will become, resize, crop, rotate and color balance quickly and easily. I can not count the number of times I have an image for a wedding or a graphic that needs the contrast or brightness settings for the projector. Picassa Two clicks and you're golden.

2. VLC Media Player

If there is a better video player out there, I do not know what it is. This has it all. If VLC Media Player does not play, you may not be reproduced. Most presentation programs have a limited amount of videos that can play. That awesome divx or Open the video in VLC, drag it onto the display screen, click "View> Full Screen", open an external console, pause the video at you want to start, voila. Cry of the media will make the presentation screen and then when you need the video, the media minimize shout to be given control of the second screen, this video, then maximize Grito means for the return trip.

Is this some Kluge? Yes Does it work? Of course. Is it better to spend a whole day trying to convert the mp4 into something that may or may not play in your program presentation? Without a doubt. For comparison, download the VLC player and see all its features. Is the wedding coordinator want the first part of this song, the chorus of this song and then comes the end of another song? Does the music director of the production children want to end the song before repeating chorus? Make but, as LAME is open source, so let's put them in the same category.

I would not use it to master an album, but for a podcast, mp3 edit or basic file conversion. It is "audtastic" (Sorry, that was lame)

4. Winamp

Ok, work with your pre-show music. There is nothing worse than dead air between I'm open to suggestions, but for now, winamp still rocks.

5. VirtualDub Mod

VirtualDubMod is based on software VirtualDub video editing famous Avery Lee. Born as a unification of several existing modifications, a lot of new features were added, including support for the matroska container format. What is audacity audio files, VirtualDub is a video files. Although I do not use it to edit a movie, which is ideal for quick fixes and tweaks. It is also free.

6. GSpot

Great, you just lose our "clean" state. I'll try to resist making a joke Jr. High level about searching ... (And blew). He gave the name of the program, but it has saved my bacon more once. GSpot is a small (about 1 MB) that does not even need to be installed. When executed, it loads the list of codecs (currently over 250) and to open a video or audio with him will tell you everything there is to know about the file. Resolution, audio codec, bitrate, video codec, virtually all you need to know about the video file or audio is there. Want to know the native resolution of that video? 7. Logmein

Ok, this is not really a program, an online service, but it's free. LogMeIn is an awesome computer Internet access program that could become your favorite company. If you need your computer to access the presentation via the Internet, LogMeIn is your friend. A version free and a professional version. The free version basically gives you the ability to distance on the target computer and operate as if you are sitting in the system. The professional version adds many IT Manager utility.

If you manage or support the filing systems at various locations Logmein use any travel or will save him free from the "help desk braille" blues. You know braille help desk ... "Ok do you see now? Right click the file ... is in the top left corner ... yes, it's ... sorry, next to Edit ... not now ... "All we had to. Now, they say logmein to the load and take control of the system and solve problems, set and edit all of your own computer.

The only thing that the version Free remote control is missing the file transfer. Which brings me to the next program.

8. Orb

Ok, Orb rocks. I am an evangelist for Orb. What does good things for many who do not have time to enter all of them (that Slingbox, only better, only free). I love Orb Therefore, it is my browser home page. If that is not a commitment of love, I do not know what it is. While Orb is supercoolawesome does not seem to offer anything in your filing system. Sure you play your DivX movies Xbox 360 (I know, right?) And change the channel on DirecTV and the flow of power to your phone (seriously), but what doing here?

Orb also lets you browse the system drives and transfer files between remote computers. This fills the void that the free version of LogMiner left open. Forget the image of your office? Need ways to transfer files easily, but none of them come with I have enough problems demand) Zamzar takes the place of a video conversion program that is normally in the ninth on the list. No, I justified it. There is a whole discussion online video from YouTube, Revver or daily movement becomes avi or mpg. There are two immediate advantages to being online, you do not need a computer so conversion of our lives) to load and all the free anti-virus programs, I believe that Windows Defender does a great job. I have not run any test or system, but comparisons WD seems to capture what is supposed to catch while time (and this is important) not to occupy too much of my system resources. The latest version has won me over and is back on all my systems installed windows. Could not be better antispyware software, but not better anitspyware FREE.
