Apache configuration tool and downloading php

It soon will be time to redesign my website for "The era of Web 2.0." I've looked seriously two platforms, Drupal and Joomla, so that to achieve this.

Drupal and Joomla offer comprehensive packages that, in the case of Drupal, includes a blog and forum as basic modules. Theming these platforms can be performed either through CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and PHP (Personal Home Page or PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) code modifications. However, these platforms are complex and learn enough to install, manage and customize these platforms can be a daunting task.

After studying the two platforms, including the use of two in my test platform and the Internet, I decided to take a look at WordPress as a possible solution my needs in the future Web. I was surprised to discover that the latest version of WordPress is easy to install, easy use, and easy subject. In This article will describe how to install and customize WordPress 2.5.

Installing WordPress in Five Easy Steps

(1) href = "http://reviews-mann.blogspot.com/"> Download WordPress

The first installation step is to download WordPress fromhttp: / / wordpress.org / download /. I created a directory on my PC called "wordpress" in which to collect files and images to use for the WordPress Installation and customization. Once the download competed, I saved the zip. file.

(2) Unzip WordPress

After saving the file, I opened the zip / unzip program I use, and select all the files. Since testing and modifying WordPress locally to start with, "pulls" the files in the root directory of the Apache server I use for my test PC.

If I were to install WordPress "for real" in a live web site, have used an FTP client to upload the zip file. The desired directory on my hosting service and unzipped the file there. Firefox has an excellent and * free * FTP client, FireFTP, that can be used for charging.

(3 ) Create Database

At this point, the WordPress database to be created. WordPress requires a database to store your site content and other information. I can use MySQL for my database server both on my test PC and my sites in vivo. I can use phpMyAdmin as an interface to MySQL.

The creation of the database is very simple using phpMyAdmin. I simply start phpMyAdmin, enter the name of the database and click on "Create". WordPress will create the tables needed in the database.

(4) Create wp-config.php

WordPress needs to know how to access the database once has been created. That's what the wp-config.php file is. WordPress includes a file called "wp-config-sample.php." This file must be modified to access to the database information and changed its name to "wp-config.php."

Open the config file with any text editor. The entries are critical db_name, db_user, DB_PASSWORD and DB_HOST.

As an enhanced security measure, which received a single SECRET_KEY and paste this into the file. Then save the edited file as wp-config.php. The text below shows the code I changed:

/ / ** MySQL settings ** / /

define ('db_name', 'wordpress'); / / The name of the database

define ('DB_USER', 'rtivel') / / Your MySQL username

define ('DB_PASSWORD' 'MyPassword') / / ... and password

define ('DB_HOST', 'localhost') / / 99% chance not need to change this value

/ / Change SECRET_KEY a single sentence. You do not have to remember later

/ / So is long and complicated. You can visithttp: / / api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.0 /

/ / To obtain a password generated by you, or just do something.

define ('SECRET_KEY "DIQ` @ | CH6) l @ u> x;! HA> 1ew1maZ /) Finger% and ZYAI}} = V ^ L () eooB k8LJa 0V + Eh') / / Change this to a single sentence.

(5) Run the WordPress Installer

After finished editing the wp-config.php, I started the installation script by typing the URL of my server on my browser:

localhost / wordpress / Wp-admin / install.php

For a live site, the URL might look something like this:

yourdomain.com / wordpress / wp-admin / install.php

The first installation screen asks for the name of the blog and contact email address.

On the next screen announces a successful installation and provides a username and password for the administrator. Be sure to save the password!

The installation is complete. Now I can enter WordPress and begin managing the blog, customizing the theme, or add content.

Or, you can click the link at the top of the boot login screen and go to the main blog page.

If you do not manually create a wp-config.php file, WordPress will ask for the information you need and try to complete the installation.

That's it! WordPress should now be installed.

WORDPRESS STYLE - DESIGN JAKOB

The current design of my personal website, SelectDigitals.com is based on the work and philosophy of Jakob Nielsen, http://www.useit.com/. Nielsen work has been devoted to the development of useful web sites that offer content that is easy to find and easy to read.

The Nielsen site design (and my site, with permission) is simple and elegant and has the objective of delivering content. WordPress also has the objective of delivering content. Therefore, my first design WordPress will strive to maintain the appearance of our site with the added feature of interactivity visitors. I refer to this as the design of Jakob.

There are six main components that make up the appearance of the default WordPress blog:
