What is the best way to learn web design and web development? And which languages to learn first?

My short term goal = To be able to create beautiful websites and wordpress themes with XHTML, CSS and PHP. Long term goal = To learn web programming languages so you can build things like Facebook applications, iPhone applications, Adobe AIR, etc. I've seen some applications of video conferencing and I'm reading an HTML, CSS book (Which is confusing). For those of you who taught himself how do you go about doing it? What is the best way to practice? and How I think time will take to reach an intermediate level? I have 4 to 6 hours a day to learn right now. Thanks!

His words are a good man. For sure not to take too long to study there, but in practice, if you need it. My suggestion to you is, from HTML, for some Web applications, PHP, MySQL, practices and make ... Because some tutorials provide exactly "how" and get "out", since one will know better. Good lucky!
