How to host a website in 5 easy steps

Discover these simple steps on how to host a Web site

How host a web site Step 1: Choose a domain name

If you already have one, then use unless you will be creating multiple domains in your account hosting and then choose a domain general use will be for long. You can add more domains, as needed.

3 quick tips in choosing a domain name.

  1. Kept as short as possible and memorable.
  2. SEO ranking. COM. ORG y. NET to see the best.
  3. If "keyword" domain name is the ranking can help.

Register with a separate record, not through the hosting company. Why? Because you may want to change hosting company on the road. I use Godaddy.com but have also used many others.

When register (except for this special offer coupon) on each page go to the bottom and click "no thanks next" and jump all complementary functions. You do not need. Also check the registration number of years. The default is 2 years, so you need to change each year if that is what you want.

Once you purchase the domain on the top of the web hosting company of your choice.

Receiving a Website Step 2: Order your hosting account

Godaddy.com While you will be given an option to host a website with them. They have good service and inexpensive, but breaks the rule how to host a website and remove your domain from your accommodation. For a reliable web hosting service on a budget that used to house HostMonster.com HostGator.com and our own website and keep our domain name with a different company.

By signing up with the hosting company will be asked which type of account. With Hostgator choose their "baby" plan, more expensive "business" plan is not required to host a website unless you need a "reseller account".

They will ask for your domain and will be the one obtained from GoDaddy.com. Do not worry about connecting to the domain hosting company, will clear more forward.

You have your hosting account (in this case are a couple of discount coupons) and then point your domain to your hosting account.

How receive a Website Step 3: Point of Your Domain

The hosting company you choose will send access information to your new account. This may take a day or two. Hostgator, Hostmonster, Bluehost and Site5 have always been very quick to send the information within a couple of hours.

In this packet e-mail will be your DNS - "Domain Name Server" information. It looks something like NS2.HOSTMONSTER.COM and NS2.HOSTMONSTER.COM. These DNS are unique to hosting account. Is the direction of hosting accounts online. You will use both to update the configuration of the domain at GoDaddy.

The DNS points the domain name to your hosting account. If you get tired of your hosting account and switch to a new one, just update the settings in the DNS for the new account. For this it's good to have your domain in a separate account from your accommodation.

You are now on the Internet with your domain. The next stop is to get your message. You need a website to do this.

Receiving a Web Site Step 4: Create your own website

There are many platforms, different types of websites or you can build and use. You can even hire someone to design and up. That can be expensive and overkill if you're not careful. For us, WordPress is the best solution. It is flexible and compatible, easy to install (very easy) and free.

Once you have loaded your site a ton of great content and you want a different design or see, how you do it? WordPress may be just a few clicks of the mouse and has a whole new look.
