WordPress: If this file can be written then you could edit it?

I am using wordpress. Every time I go to edit a theme, at the bottom says: "If this file is writing, then you could edit." I read all the help topics on the wordpress forums and other websites. I changed the permissions to all possibilities. Still does not work! Help!

The files must be set the permissions: 666 This is literacy for all, but not running. Your host can not be allowed to change the permissions though. So if you have FTP access, you should use instead. Just be sure to use a text editor to modify files.
