GoDaddy Windows vs Linux hosting plans?

Godaddy.com I emailed support, but I can not find the answer I'm looking for. I want to buy an unlimited hosting plan. I have a macbook, so do not know whether to choose Windows or Linux. Never mind that one you choose? I have heard most Mac users go to the windows. When I buy it and it (what a term choice) is easy to use, or will I have difficulty handling things. I will try to use Joomla or WordPress as godaddy offers free applications to create a website because it says there are more options than just choosing a template and open a website on plan of the night. (And if joomla or wordpress does not work I'll try to get dreamweaver) Is this something easy to do for someone who does not know much about hosting, etc? I hope I have given enough information about what I want to know if I have not try to answer a sap!
