Avoiding problems with your WordPress blog in Internet Explorer
What a nightmare! I was so sure of my blog looked great! Then, I get an email from a compassionate soul. "I was in place," the email said, "but I could not see their videos." WHAT? Which meant I could not see my videos? My heart sank! I immediately wrote my blog url in the address bar and held my breath while expected to rise. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw my sight arrive intact, every video, every eyelash, every word was there.
Now, I knew this man not going to play that kind of joke. So I asked him to check again. Once again, I could not see the videos. So, finally the right question: "What browser are you using? "The response was" Internet Explorer ". Well, I use Firefox for almost everything, but as they have IE installed on my PC, I open the browser to see if that had anything to do with it. Low and behold, my blog looked like a disaster! Page of error messages, no videos and no exclusion in the table are just some of the immediate damage that could survey.
Needless to say, I spent the next day and half trying to figure out what the hell was the problem. Why all look good in firefox, but totally in disrepair in IE? Now, because they want you to have to go through this very stressful and painful process, let me tell you what I learned, and how he was finally able to fix things!
First, do not copy and paste your messages directly from Word to a blog. In doing so, you not only copy the content, but all data y. Word format Therefore, if you copied and pasted from word and open your WordPress administration page using IE, you'll see a very strange bunch of commands at the beginning of your messages.
To solve this particular problem, it is necessary to republish your publications on the blog! Yes, you read correctly. You need to go back and redo all your messages. If you do not have that many, it might be easier to start a little more, but if you have a lot, and then set aside some time when you are relaxed and free of distractions, have a cup of coffee and do the following. Open your posts one at a time. Highlight and cut the contents of the message. Paste to Notepad (notepad regular to dry), cleaning of any label or format may appear strange. Then select and copy the message. Back in the WP dashboard, will be at the point of view "Visual" tab of your message two clipboards (one with a "W" and the ONT to a "T"), click the one with the "T" and paste the contents to the clipboard. Click "Update". Your content should now appear without any technical problems. Now keep in mind that this is only for text. Let's talk about the video in a minute.
To prevent this from happening in the future, either to avoid the copy of the word all together, or use the clipboard with the "W" when you go to paste your content. Always possible, check your new messages in Internet Explorer and your regular browser to make sure everything is in order.
Now, as far as video is concerned, must keep in mind that WordPress itself is a bit finicky about the way videos are incorporated into the blogs. Therefore, if you embed a video using the code provided by YouTube or Viddler, you may already know you have to remove the last "" label in order to avoid a 404. Well, if you want your video to show in IE at all, it is necessary to remove all form the embed code than what is real integration between the tags. Therefore, it will only add to the HTML view of the "Add message" page of the section of code beginning with "<embed> </ embed>" and ends with "". Do not worry. The truth of the matter is that all that other code is redundant, anyway, so the video is well executed.
If after fixing all these small but annoying and time, the details of your blog will still not the way it is supposed to, you might want to consider changing the subject. See, for example, examines the issue of information are different from other browsers. Therefore, just might be having difficulty understanding all the "instructions" that come with the particular issue of the election. The good news is that this can be done without affecting its contents. The bad news is that you can not find another topic that you love as much as I had.
I really hope that helps and saves you the aggravation and headaches that had to happen! That's really my only goal here! Take care and happy blogging!
