WordPress Echo Tag

How do I either add a title to my home page?
I have a wordpress site and am using a theme I really like, but page does not display the title tag. Here's the header code: } elseif (is_404()) {Echo '404 Not Found ';} elseif (is_category ()) {' Category 'echo; wp_title ('');} elseif (is_search ()) {"Search Results" echo;} elseif (is_day () | | is_month () | | is_year ()) {"Files:" echo; wp_title ('');} else {echo wp_title ('');}> Is there any way for me to make something appear? (For the record that the blog title is written on the page General options so you do not suggest that) Matrix, I just say that I have filled in the title
Try adding this in header.php: It only took this from one of my songs - no idea if this is the correct syntax. You may want to see in the default theme wordpress - header.php
