How to create a website on Google Sites?

I own a domain name through Dreamhost. Originally created a website with WordPress. That was working fine, but I wanted to switch to a Google site. I wanted to change because I thought it would be easier to edit and perhaps look better. I have trouble downloading. I keep getting a site that begins with a sites.google.com {/ a} I do not want before my website. In addition to the name domain so it should be what I want to be. Also accidentally deleted my old site. I tried to redirect to a Google site. When ever I am looking for my site I get an error 404. I do not know what a 404 error, dreamhost says its no problem, and it is surprising that Google has a very bad customer service, so I'm out of options. This site is my last hope. Please help! I'm not very computer literate, especially with websites, so please explain I have to assume that team little / Internet knowledge.

You must create a CNAME for your website with the domain registrar. Just give them a call and explain the situation will help.
