BuddyPress WordPress does not work?

Well, I installed on my wordpress site Buddpress (I prefer not to publish the url, sorry) and for some reason when I try to go anywhere in the navigation much higher (My Account, notifications) leads me to the members page. The four main links work fine (house, activities, members, groups) is only the top navigation. I tried removing the plugin, uninstall and reinstall, but no change. I tried downloading via BP the website and installation, but it caused a fatal error so it is not installed. I also tried clicking links on the top navigation through wp-admin, but it took me to the new members section. Is there something wrong with the plug-in or am I missing something in the installation of BuddyPress? Help would be greatly appreciated. (:

Have you tried contacting the author and ask? Most WP plugin authors are more than happy to help.
