Move to the free WordPress blogger

In this example, say you have a Blogger blog http://yourblog.blogspot.com and I would like to migrate to self-hosted WordPress newdomain.com Custom domain name.

1.Get domain name and buy a hosting account (You can buy http://exabytes.com.my)

- You must have or register the domain name newdomain.com
- You must have a hosting account.

2.Install a temporary installation of WordPress

- If you have Linux hosting account comes with Cpanel you can access your cPanel> Fantastico De Luxe> WordPress and install a temporary installation of WordPress. You can download the installer and install it manually WordPress.org WordPress.
- In this example, is installed in the "blogtest / "
- The temporary installation of WordPress is used to import all your blog entries and comments and test and see if all your blog entries and Permalinks original or URL are retained.

3.Import all posts and comments from Blogger to WordPress with the option of the importer.

- From your WordPress, go to Tools> Import> Blogger.
- To authorize the import process by Clickling Authorize button.
- Enter your username and password for Google.
- Click Grant access on the button

- Will be shown a list of all blogs that the blogger himself and the number of posts and comments. Click on the blog to import.
- Once you click the Import button you'll see a progress bar as the amount raised comments and messages. Once your make the text on the button changes authors the Set button. Click on the button.
- You see your Blogger username (if you have multiple authors see them too), select Admin (This is the user WordPress default) drop-down list and click the Save Changes button.

- Go to Settings> Permalinks

(This is to match the structure of posts in WordPress posts with former Blogger)

For example, the original URL is something like blogspot

URL after importation of WordPress will be,

http://newdomain.com/blogtest/2006/10/exabytes-launch-new-website.html

7.After check your installation of WordPress and blogs are working fine, go to your panel temporary control of the installation of WordPress

- Go to Manage> Export and export click the Download File button. Download and save the file XML.
- Install a fresh copy of WordPress. In this example, you would like the new blog custom domain name in the root directory new hosting account. So you have to install WordPress in the root directory hosting account. Again, you can install through Fantastico De Luxe if you have Linux hosting account with cPanel.
- Login to your dashboard of your new copy of WordPress.
- Go to Manage> Import> WordPress and import the XML file that was saved before.
- Repeat step 4 to change permalinks in order to keep your Permalinks or URL.

- Click on the link at the top, custom domain.? Type your new domain, www.newdomain.com. Save. Now all links be automatically transferred to your own domain, but needs one more step to transfer your blog home page more.

Note:

1. It will not import pictures of your blogger.com. Will be referred to the images stored in the Blogger server. As will to manually upload the image to a new photo sharing service such as Photobucket.com.

2. They import all their labels as categories. So suddenly can have tons of new categories of import at the top level WordPress. You will have to manually change to be more significant.

3. It will not import your sidebar links, flash, add-ons, CSS and design. So you need to customize the layout of WordPress.

4. It will not import food. You have to replace your old Blogger feed to the new RSS in WordPress Feedburner dashboard.
