WordPress theme header?

Hi Some of the topics (like the default themes old and new) can be customized through the control panel installation WordPress who are active. How would I write one of these to change the color of the header (the HEX in an external CSS style sheet - I suppose I should that become internal) Thanks

Yes, You are correct that it is necessary to override the style. everything can be done in the functions.php file. The default theme for WP 3.0 has this functionality. functions.php search and see how. the exact function is add_custom_image_header ().
