wordpress portfolio power?

plans to use WordPress for my portfolio categorized as illustration, graphic design, motion graphics. Do You think it's better to enter my portfolio pieces as POST or a page? I can also sort my portfolio inflows to the category or tags entry? For example, if a user clicks on "enlightenment", I want all the entries filed in the illustration to the list on the page. for now I'm well with the solution of a text link to link to pages file individual entries, but in future I might want as a list of thumbnails instead of a text link. How I can do that? I imagine that by custom fields (upload a custom thumbnail?)? So, basically to compress this question: 1. which is better - post or page? 2. category or tags? 3. how to make miniatures listings?

most it's just personal preference. 1.) I say next. since you can put in a category so that when people select the category that everything will be displayed. 2.) Categories tend to work better than the labels because it can be something every day s label and you could have the images overlap into other categories. 3.) I think wordpress has plugins for flash sites and image hosting if you want to look like that. wordpress plugins it has some very nice picture also you can consider.
