Untold Story of Prophet TB Joshua a mystery
Prophet TB (Temitope Balogun) Joshua needs no introduction. Everyone has their reason for taste to hate or controversial founder of the Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, a Christian religion with a growing following of fans. TB Joshua, the leader religious who many evangelical church leaders do not want to be associated with, because they think they should be in the fold of true born-again Christians.
In the past, the prophet Joshua has been the target of resignations and accusations by some leading men of God in Nigeria, who questioned his authority and authenticity as a man of God. Undoubtedly, Joshua is an enigma wrapped in controversy. It was our desire to develop this puzzle that led us to the synagogue, hidden around the axis Ejigbo and Egbe Lagos.
There we met a huge cathedral, one of the kind not seen anywhere in the world. Even the legendary King Solomon wonder of God in this temple, built by Nigerians, "under the inspiration of God," as we were told.
In our journey of discovery, members of our family and even our colleagues were concerned about our going to interview TB Joshua. So great was their concern that they had to fast and to support us with their prayers Cast and spiritual "and binding." For them it was like entering a lion's den spiritual. But do not be discouraged. After all, journalism has to do with adventure. It is venturing into the unknown and to report.
Not for welcoming us to the synagogue on Wednesday last week was a British official who serves as the church's public relations. There were many white faces everywhere, giving support to the claim that it is an international church. The young man took us on a tour inside the church that looked like a huge amphitheater with benches, carpet, altar and audiovisual installations that combine to give a colorful and mystical atmosphere of the church. Emmanuel Church visited the TV studio, which broadcasts religious programs around the world. There were all kinds of study - to record and create CDs, audio studios and photography studios. In all the studies you saw the workers busy behind the computer editing movies or whatever.
After the tour, we did see a short documentary with the newly elected President of Ghana honors God and TB Joshua to help him win the election in Ghana. For 30 minutes or more, we saw the President of Ghana, Professor Attah-Mills, worship in the synagogue and even go to the altar to share your testimony of how God used to make TB Joshua win elections in Ghana. He told the congregation about the accuracy with Joshua prophesied a tie in the election Ghana's creeping in January, but went on to win. And won.
About Joshua living room were the images of presidents, heads of state, who met the prophet and came to worship at the synagogue. It is the image of General Andre Kolimba, former President of the Republic (who visited in 2003) Frederick Chiluba, former Zambian president (who visited in 2001), Professor Pascal Lissouba, former President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (who visited in 2006) and Sir Orville Turnquest, former Governor General of the Bahamas that Joshua had visited in 2001. Then there's Omar Bongo, President of Gabon, who visited the synagogue in 2008.
After an hour of foreplay, TB Joshua walked in welcoming us. He was dressed casually in a shirt and shorts. Seemed friendly. When we started the interview, grabbed the tape recorder and spoke directly to us as we fired our questions at him. It was his way of ensuring clarity in the recording. Our approach was to get some biographical or autobiographical. These are the memories of Prophet TB Joshua, in his own words, with a little editing here and there. TB Joshua, like you have never heard or read anywhere.
Successful People are not only derived from the top. It requires concentration, discipline and perseverance to reach the top. As we know, is what we call man's natural gifts and the supernatural gift of God. This church is the result of supernatural gift of God. Natural gift the man is a gift that one can begin to boast, telling you how it all happened. The work of progress is not our job. It is our faith. The work of discovery is the work of God. Everything we're seeing now is the work of God. If that man's natural gift, then you can start to say that this is how I did it, that's how I got to respect. So far, I look at the synagogue building and wonder: how did it happen? God just wanted someone to do all these things and he told me to do so. Not my job, but the work of God. So the man does not count. All boasting is excluded. The Bible says there is no place for man, boasting of their ability or power. Glory to God.
"My Father"
Each success story started somewhere. I grew up in a Christian home. The name of my father is Kolawole Balogun. He was a Christian. He was a farmer who was also secretary of the church of San Esteban, in our village. When the whites came our people, served as translator. He was translating English into Yoruba. He was an educated man. He lived with whites, while serving as secretary of the church. I can not say much about my father because he died when I was a little kid. I know he loved me. I was his pet. I was the most was affected by his death. Being the last born, wherever he goes, I was going to go. I was going to wear to church. As a young child, running within the church. I jumped from the choir to fork of the catechist.
Some people use the rumor that my father was a Muslim. I do not know where they got that from. My father was a Christian and I am a Christian. When I was young, I remember taking me to church regularly. As a child in elementary school, my dad I stay after school with a Catholic priest whose home was in the back of the church. I did all the normal things kids do, like running and play football.
When my father died, my mother's brother who became a father figure to me was a Muslim. That does not make me a Muslim. I grew up in a Christian home. And since childhood, I was passionate about the Bible. Since elementary school, I was well versed in Bible knowledge. That was my favorite subject and excelled at it. As a primary six children, I read the New Testament twice. In my high school days, I finished reading the Bible on the average of two months.
Every two months, I've read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. He was the only subject I thought I was in so much as if the Bible is the only topic that interested me in the primary and secondary schools. In the tests, which scored 99 percent, while unfortunately I always do in other subjects. My protruding knowledge of the Bible in the other issues which affected poor performance. At school, I was the leader of the Scripture Union.
While I was in second place in primary school is not easy to be admitted to school. As luck would have, my admission to the university late Muslim. In the Muslim school, who simply take the open Bible. To read the Bible, would hide under the mango tree or the backyard and the Muslim community is beginning to haunt us. We all at number 20 then. Like the early Christians, who read the Bible in secret, because we were never allowed to do so openly. I was the team leader of Christians at school, in the Ansar-Ud-Din Grammar School, Ikar. And because of the pressure, could not complete one year in that school. It was obvious he could not fit into this context predominantly Muslim. So I went to school. I left because my life was in danger. I could feel I was doing this in secret, one day something could happen to me. To I had to leave to avoid. From Ikar, I came to Lagos.
"I spent 15 months in my mother's womb"
Back to my beginning, I was the last born of the family. When I was born a lot of strange things happened. Seven days after my birth, I said put me in a table and a large stone almost crushed me, but luckily I escaped. What happened? White people used to come and drill in our village. And our people, is all of stone beneath. When they are drilling it hits the stone and the stones were flying was dangerous. Before any drilling will be announced publicly that everyone should stay home to avoid the danger of being hit by a flying stone. The stone used to fly due to the nature of the machine used. It was the seventh day, when I wanted to put my name on the table and a stone flew where they were drilling, through the roof of where people celebrated and landed where it is posted. But it struck me, almost. The stone still stands so far. No one has heard this story from me.
The other mystery story about me is that a normal pregnancy lasts nine months. But I spent more than my mother's womb. My mother was taken to Egbe, who had the best hospital in those days. Egbe is in Kogi State. It was probably the best hospital in Nigeria after all. My mother was taken there for its operation. After nine months, began working. She ended up spending three months in the hospital. My grandmother had no money and my mother is the only son. At the village level, the grandmother was a woman very rich. So she could pay the hospital bills in that period of time. Each time the doctor wanted to operate my mom, the doctor said: "No I feel comfortable performing this operation. "
My mother told me this story. She recalls that at the Egbe, some Christians used to come to hospital preaching to the sick. She said she was lying in bed and a pastor has just entered and said it should be operated. He told my mother: "God is busy preparing this child. So please, do not operate. Back home. If operation is attempted, the opposite would happen. "
My mother called the doctor and the doctor met with the pastor, who repeated the message with the doctor. My mother left the hospital after three months back home to continue the hand work. She worked and worked. Instead of nine months, spent 15 months working. But one night, he gave me without surgery. So this made the villagers and whole community to say we have to celebrate my birth. And now gathered on the seventh day and celebrate my name. It was the seventh day they were doing the drilling and the great stone flew like a missile, towards my direction, but miraculously missed me. Where the stone went still there. Where I put on the ground is still there. Because I said do not touch. The stone that fell with them yet.
The story began in turn to the people about this mysterious child born after 15 months, a child who takes Egbe Hospital and could not do the operation, came back home, he gave safely. Now, after delivering him, this stone fell and took a mysterious hand this baby on the carpet. No one saw me wearing. I just I saw in another direction, shouting, Choo, Choo, Choo.
The stone would fall on me, but a mysterious force moved me to safety in the same room. It was a stretch of less. The fabric and everything burned to ashes. And my mom fainted. She was taken to a hospital. My mother was in hospital for two days either. The ram, and everything were all there. Rice could not eat it. Because everyone was rushing to the hospital to revive my mom. Nobody made a ceremony again. But eventually I was appointed. I was appointed Opeyemi Temitope Oluwarotimi Oluwasheun Olutope, I have a lot names. The day was named, gave me 30 names. But I just Stop choosing the names of a lot. My mother called me one day and said. "Their names are almost 30 and is written" And I just choose Temitope. I taking Temitope.
My mother woke up after two days in the hospital. The name of my mom is Kolawole Balogun Adesiji. His father's name is Kolawole. My mom too late, my father is late. My father died first as a child and my mother was left with the responsibility to train with me and send me to school. But she was economic disadvantage. She said: "You this boy, I can not finance their education. You would have to wait until their brothers finish their university studies. That would sponsor their education. "
Mom was the secretary of the collector junction everyday savings - what is known in Yoruba '. Aya or fowo Lowo pa mo 'I remember going to collect daily savings of their customers. She used these things to train their children. Now that she was no longer in that business, and was waiting for my brother, who was attending high school in Gbongan would be to send me to college. That was the only hope was to go to school.
On the basis of hostility and religious intolerance in Ansar-Ud-Din Grammar School, I decided to leave Lagos Ikar. I met some people who used to lead the people to cassava places like Ibadan and Lagos. I approached them and explained my situation with them. It would take four days on the road carrying cassava Lagos in tow. The trailer can be loaded with things such as cassava and cocoa, while the owners slept on the top. I decided to join them. I did not tell my parents I was going to Lagos. I was inside the vehicle for four days before coming to Ibadan. In Ibadan, we landed at mile 12 in Lagos. They left me there and said. "This is where we perform "
For five days I was at mile 12. It was during the rainy season. The work I did was wash the feet of people coming out of the market mud. I went to wash the feet and paid little money that feeds me. I was washing the feet until one day I overheard two women talking in my native dialect. I stopped conversation and asked whether they Arigidi, my hometown, and she said yes. I said I was in Lagos to locate my sister, whose whereabouts I do not know. Fortunately, I was able to trace my sister Egbe area of Lagos. After 10 days, we drew and began aa live with it. That's how I started my life. Today I have an NGO for children's motor park, because I've also been myself.
I realized that my sister had her own family and must not be a burden for her. I do not like to bother people. If I visit your home and give me a bottle of soda, I would make sure to put something on the envelope, because I think they make a living by what we give and make a life by what we get. This is what I believe in. In life, not only to collect and collect. Destroying one's life. You have to give and give. Because the Bible says, is about giving as a mission from God.
"I took a shit for a living"
I left my sister to live with a friend. From there, I got a job as an assistant poultry. Poultry remains now. Not long ago, I followed the poultry somewhere in Ikotun. The job I got is to take shit. Bird shit. And the smell of bird shit is more terrible than human feces. I was doing this work with many Ghanaians. There were so many Ghanaians in Nigeria later. I was the only Nigeria poultry. And never let people know it was a Nigerian. I proposed a Ghanaian also because nobody would believe that a Nigerian to do such work. I did the job for three days and my body odor changed. When I move around, people perceive the smell and flies hovering around me, because I smell really bad. There was no amount of soap I shower to remove the smell of my body. As you are working in the poultry farm shit poultry would fall on the head. I did this for a good year.
At the same time, I enrolled in night school. New State High School is the name of the school. I attended many schools in Lagos. I would like to attend a school for two months, only to be dismissed because of school fees. I went to New State High School, Ansar-Ud-Din Grammar School, Isolo, and another school called Metro. Because I was good at athletics, I was given what appeared to be the scholarship. I won gold, silver and bronze medals in athletics. But I had to work for a living at school. So I took the job of the poultry. I was using to pay tuition school. In those days schools were like the whole night, the normal schools. From here you can attend night school to make their WAEC and CME. We even got better lessons in the afternoon in the school day, in those days. I was sending to school and while teaching children the Bible studies.
My game took me to Baptist Academy. When I was running that I have chosen. Under one year, I attended 15 schools here in Lagos. And I ended a year. I do not remember year, because I can not keep a record. But it's all in the documentary about my life. I was born 1963. At least, I remember that one.
'I against a crazy man at school "
My first attempt to discover the spirit of God in me when I was a madman came to my school. In those days, I used Pastor to be called small. One morning, a madman came to our school with a knife and everyone ran helter-skelter. All teachers fled the room was empty. I arrived and saw this crazy person. The spirit of God spoke to my heart, not my ear. I hear the voice of God in my heart and in my ears. Then I heard the voice of God saying, "Go there and pick up the knife. Just tell the fool to take the machete." When it was moving crazy, everyone was worried about my safety. They were saying something like, 'This is the child wants to die. "I just went crazy and ordered," Give me that knife, Jesus' name. "The crazy I got the knife. They picked it up and handed it to a teacher. It was from there that he began calling me young Pastor.
A From there, I was going to call the meeting and ask me to pray for them. Every time I went to pray for them. If you want to play football, I pray for them. Started coming to me individually for prayers. They pray for me, pray for me, pray for me to finish. He asked how I was able to overcome the insane and I told them I was surprised myself to see what happened.
You see, God Almighty is impressive. You can use any means to express themselves. You can use sand, water, stone, rod, you can use anything. When Moses was asking God what to do, God asked, "What is in your hand, "He said rod. Then God said," It used to divide the sea. "Or speaking of Paul and Silas in the prison yard? They were there and never said, Hey, the name of Jesus, in Jesus' name, the name of Jesus. You just sing praises to God. He uses the medium of sound. Or are you talking Joshua. He told his people to scream and fell just Hallelujah the walls of Jericho. God uses any means to express themselves.
The Ministry of left school St. Stevens Elementary where I picked up the machete of the mad and where the Union began to direct Scripture, the teaching of the Bible and everything. This is where the presence of consciousness of God in me started. Continued. Everything great starts soon. If everything great starts great, it calls for concern.
I was in the Bahamas with the President Bahamas, close to Florida, when my mother died. This is the image. I was with him when he called me. Synagogue had become. I was with him when I was told my mother was a little below that was taken from the village. Said my mother wanted to see me and talk to me. Before coming home, my mom was gone. My mother was too late. It was too late for me. That's how I missed my mother.
She was a wonderful mother. The only problem I had with my little mother that she wanted to see all success in life. I used to tell my mother, success is a two-sided issue. I have a role to play, God has his own role. Not everything depends on God, and certainly not everything depends on me. Success is a sort of alliance between man and God. I can not define failure, because I do not believe in failure. There is no failure in my book. All I see is success, led by the Spirit of God. But as humans, can not be perfect. Perfection eludes all human beings. God is perfection.
