I can do a blog with wordpress eccomerce?

I want to use a WordPress blog and theme and then add a shopping cart plugin for make a website. As long as your still a blog hosted on wordpress I think I can get WordPress on the domain. Can anyone tell me if this is safe or legal to do so? Also, I have the right process? I heard a lot about a form and mail or email me and pay with a money order or cash and I'm just a small area serving local and not state or national level. Do I need an SSL, or I can keep things the way it is? Please answer completely. Thanks for your help, its appreciated.

I recommend you obtain an SSL certificate, otherwise customers will hesitate to buy from you. I use the business plan HostGator.com housing that comes with an SSL certificate. As for using wordpress hosting, I think you should buy a domain and server itself. Then just raise the issue shopperpress. I used it for e-commerce and works very well. It costs money though.
