How I can access to start posting on the site of a client?

I have a client who wants a blog on your site. They use WordPress. He gave me the login and password to enter the blog, but I keep getting an error saying that the password is incorrect. Do I have to download on my computer before WordPress you can start blogging on your site, or should be able to simply use the information you gave me to start writing?
