Where should I place the file on my server and how I can access it?
Trying to build my first website. Here are the files Look at the way my server. ----- Backup / cgi bin / htdocs ---- htdocs then there are these files: images / scripts / index.htm etc. I want to put pdf file on my website .. Where did you get, and how I can access it? I tried www.abcsite123.com/htdocs/ (then. Pdf file), but did not. ----- Everywhere I look on the website is information and directions to the public_html folder that I have and never did. I am using network solutions and Cup of Coffee. Now I have WordPress installed and running on my site and I will not spoil it. Okay so I followed the advice of hin87 and loaded the file in the htdocs section in my file is and then tried index.htm to put a link to: http://www.abcsite123.com/filename.pdf did not work. I get the error 404 (file not found on this server)
if you want the pdf file visible throughout the world, put it in the directory of the website. This must be the same directory as the main page (index.htm or index.html). To link the file, note: www.abcsite123.com/filename.pdf. First, what is the name of the pdf file. Second, you put the link to the pdf right name? Third, Are you sure you place the pdf file in the root directory of your homepage? The exampleI used assume that the PDF file called "filename.pdf." Please choose the name of your file!
