WordPress Backup Solutions - What to Look For
Sure you can do it manually, but not a WP plugin for everything, including backups, and you can even just set it and forget it and your blog back up automatically. One more reason to love WordPress.
You can not copy up everything else, but my plugin thought I knew how a WordPress backup and automatically ... EXCEPT ... I recently had a shock.
All my support work that was going to lose!
I back up the words in this blog WP, but nothing more.
I did not know is that WordPress has two distinct parts that need to restore from a backup. It is the database, and there is also the site content. Who knew? Well, not me, that's for sure.
Basically, make only one backup WordPress database was taking a big risk that only the database WP would be lost, not the entire site.
If my site was down all my backups that I have all my messages, but left me with a plain vanilla blog I have had to rebuild and retweak zero.
Hours and hours of work to do.
Scary stuff, scary.
So, of course, I thought who had just arrived the wrong plugin. It has to be an alternative, but the perfect backup plugin for WordPress? Right?
I went hunting, and horribly enough, no plugin is perfect!
It would be lovely if I could just called the solution, but is more complicated and requires more explanation from what I can come here.
There is a complete winner, but I found some solutions that will work.
Here was my checklist for the backup plugin for WordPress best. It would ...
- Backup your entire blog, that is, the database and the site itself (not just one or the other)
- Auto run scheduled backups, as well as immediate (VITAL)
- Be stable and maintain with the latest versions of WP.
- Having the support of the author and / or a good forum (very important when it comes to restoring your beautiful place and go to unavoidable techie-type issues).
- They require little coaching experience and adjust as possible. There is no creation of jobs cron, change to 777, or FTPing, please.
- Backing up somewhere other than on site, so if the site goes down the backup is not taken with her.
- Nothing.
