Setting up your own blog with WordPress
What is a blog?
Blog or weblog is a term used to describe web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. This is a frequently updated, personal website with the daily rate comments and links to articles on other websites. The Blogs can contain a single category, such as web development, electronics, love and the relationship or may be a combination of two or more.
Sections that are common on blogs
A main content area with articles sorted chronologically later, at the top. Often Articles are organized into categories.
An archive of older articles.
One way for people to leave comments on articles.
A list of links to related sites, sometimes called a "blogroll".
One or more "feeds" like RSS feeds, Atom and RDF.
Now that you have a basic idea of what a blog is, let's talk about setting up a wordpress for your blog. But first let's look at the requirements.
Next are the prerequisites before you can use WordPress
1. Your web server must support PHP scripts. WordPress is written in PHP so you should ensure that your server has PHP installed. Also check the PHP version against the version of PHP it is recommended that you use WordPress.
2. Database. Ensure you have at least one MySQL database. All your blogs / content is stored in tables within the database.
3. Optionally, it is preferable to have your run Apache on Linux host. Although WordPress running on web servers, you have many more options on how you configure the structure of your site and the links (or "Permalinks") for your pages if your site runs on Apache.
Installing WordPress
1. Download the latest software from WordPress and unzip it if it is a compressed file.
2. Locate the wp-config.php and wp-config-sample.php if the first is not present. Then look at this set of codes.
define ('db_name', ");
define ('DB_USER', ");
define ('DB_PASSWORD' ");
define ('DB_HOST', ");
DB_NAME = name of the database
Db_user = Database Mysql username
DB_PASSWORD = mysql password
Mysql DB_HOST = name
You may request help from your web host technical support for the values required above. After modifying the lines, save the file as wp-config.php
3. Upload all the files on your webserver. This will take much time especially if the speed of your Internet connection is slow.
4. After uploading all files to open the browser and go to www.domainname.com / wp-admin / Install.php. Change "domain" to your own domain name.
5. Follow the instructions that you can see on each page.
Congratulations You have successfully installed WordPress. You can start posting in your blog will www.domainname.com / wp-login.php, register with the username "admin" and password provided before and after the instructions on that page.
Some tips Blogging
Since regularly, but do not post if you have nothing worth posting about.
Staying with only a few specific genres to talk about.
Do not put "subscribe" and "Vote me ' unites all in the first page to be people who likes your blog enough to ignore (which are usually in the form).
Use a clean and simple subject, if possible.
Enjoy, blog for fun, comments on the blogs of others (as they normally visit back).
