WordPress Web Design Costs

Estimates for web design help?

I'm in the process of developing a business plan for a web-based business, mainly focused to provide free content via articles published regularly (like a blog) and electronic commerce products, such as e-books, etc. I would like launching my website as soon as possible so you can start building a community and a reputation in my place, but know very little about the technical side of things. I bought a domain name and I'm pretty well informed about self-hosting, but I would like the power of my website using WordPress and Thesis, which I know very little. Does anyone have an estimated price of how much it should cost to have someone build me a basic website with a thesis and WordPress? Or would it be fairly simple to me that I only teach? I think I'm down to whether the time or money is more valuable.
