Question about the size of WordPress blog?

Well, I wonder how I can adjust the size of my text area in WordPress, currently the text is grouped together on the left side, leaving a lot of empty space on the right side. I want the text to extend to the other end of the page and the blog. Also, how I can change the name of the blog page "Home" to another name? It removed the sidebar, but the whole area is a just empty now, I want my text to fill the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm new wordpress.
