Report of the Sixth International Congress and 42 ELT Annual Conference @ I professor DevelopmentVIT University, Vellore, June 16-18 2011
Inaugural Function
The conference organized by VIT, Vellore began with the opening session Dr.M.Channa Ramos Auditorium on June 16 about the recitation 10o'clock Sri Guru Stotram Shankarachaya. The three-day mega event with plenary sessions, workshops and paper presentations by experts and scholars from around the world, said the Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, Dr. C. Annadurai, "is a confluence of knowledge and talent of the East, West and the Middle East." After the lighting of the lamp, Secretary of ELT @ I, Dr. K. Elango, presented the Annual Report. In the report, expressed his joy at the entrance of the years 46 of the English edition of the Journal Language Teaching, ELT flagship @ I. He also noted that membership has increased to four thousand. He concluded his report by stating the need for English comprehensive policy.
While offering congratulations, the Vice Chancellor of VIT, Dr. V. Raju, referred to the comparatively low number of scientific publications in English in India and teachers face difficult challenge of English in India, while trying to develop writing skills.
During the function, the CD of abstracts and special copy of the Journal ELT @ I was released. The exhibition was also inaugurated resources.
The Chancellor VIT founder, Dr. G. Viswanathan, opened the Conference. Ms. Joell Uzarski, the Director of the Regional English Language Office (RELO), New Delhi, the guest of honor at the function, admitted that English teachers in India, like their counterparts around the world face many challenges, including among others, the less motivated students, demanding schedules and the large number of students. In his speech, the chief guest, Mr Paul Sellers, Director, British Council, South India reported the mobile exhibition of proposals by the British Council, focuses on teacher training and development. This was followed by the offer greeting by the Vice President, Dr. S. Narayanan. Dr. Daud Shah, the deputy secretary of ELT @ I offered the vote of thanks.
After a snack, when the participants to ride, Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Francis few questions "spiritual quest" to the delegates to set the agenda of the Conference.

- Plenary IV on learning the subject to achieve 2together aha! time
- II Symposium on Teacher Education in the digital age. The moderator was Dr. Kalyan Chatopadya BS College, Calcutta and the presenters were Dr. Dilip Barad Bhavanagar Gujarat University and Mr. Kalyan Sarkar of WizIQ.com, Calcutta

Day III Friday, June 18, 2011
- Paper Presentation III (parallel)
- Plenary V in the area of materials design: from the back of an envelope full Dr.Numa unit Markee University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- Panel discussion on the changing perceptions of teaching and teachers. The moderator was Dr. PNRamani, Quality Control Specialist, working in the Sultanate of Oman
- Plenary VI: Talk about the Power Master theme by Prof. R. Raja Govindasamy, Tirumalai Naicker Director Mana College, Madurai
- Special online chat Claire Bradin Siskin Mrs., Director, and Excelsior College, USA
- Writers Forum - Topic: Classroom: inspires creativity. Mrs.Usha Jesudasan The moderator was a creative writer
Farewell Session
The function began in the Auditorium Dr. Channa Reddy A to 15:45. Dr. GAGhanshyam, an executive member of the ELT @ I, welcomed the meeting. Congratulations were offered by the Vice Chancellor of VIT, Dr. V. Raju.
In his presidential address, Mr. Andrew Simkin, the Consulate General, American Consulate, expressed joy for the positive exchange of ideas during the conference. It also provided information about different successful programs undertaken by RELO New Delhi. In his farewell speech, Professor Mohammed Akhtar Siddiqui, Chairperson, NCTE, New Delhi, spoke about the importance of professional development programs.
The awards were given to toppers in English school for Standard X and XII. Prizes were also distributed by three presenters Best Paper of the Conference. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Director of the School of Languages, VIT, Dr.C. Annadurai.
The conference was really a confluence that brought together more than 800 delegates. The 'connect' the meeting is given, many hoped, be of long duration.
