The Survival Skills Blog Project

In this post we are going to cover the installation and use of the KB Robot Text WordPress plugin and why we need it in building our http://survivalskillsandgear.com authority site. This is a project blog we are working on with the goal of having authority website (in this case a blog) that we can monetize and make some money from.

This plugin stops google from looking at certain parts of the website and we are going to use it keep the search engines from looking at our affiliate links.

To install the plugin, search for KB in the Add Plugin field.  Then find the plugin labeled KB Robots.txt.  Go ahead and install it.

After you activiate the plugin, go to the settings for it and you will need to change the robots text file.

All you need to do is copy the text under the “Ban all robots” field that says….

 

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

 

Copy that into the robots.txt editor window above.

After you copy it in you need to enter a folder name after the “Disallow:/” field. I am going to enter “survival”.

The reason we are doing this is that we are going to put all of our affiliate links in the survival folder and google will ignore them.

So this is what it should look like….

User-agent: *
Disallow: /survival

By the way, the “*” stands for all.
