My Internet Marketing Strategies Journey to Success
This post is going to cover a few issues related to settingup our WordPress theme for the http://survivalskillsandgear.com project blog we are working on for this project.
Once you download the Flexsqeeze them and install it to your blog you get to have the fun of setting up the Flexsqueeze theme. Remember, you can use any theme you want as long as you follow the SEO principles we are following.
FlexSqueeze is the perfect choice for Internet marketers because it provides all the functionality and ease of use to create fantastic looking pages. You can upgrade to the paid version later – if you want to.
You will primarily be using the following tabs, under Appearance on your wordpress navigation menu:
- Widgets
- Menus
- FlexSqueeze Lite Theme Options
FlexSqueeze has video tutorials online and remember YouTube as a source. I recommend you watch some of the available videos.

I will only be covering special set up issues here. If you have specific set up questions please post a comment below.
Here is some miscellanous info on FlexSqueeze for you……
The FlexSqueeze Lite FAQ button will open up an entire page of valuable contents that will familiarize you with the terrific options that are available here as well as the powerfully flexible possibilities.
1. The next button is Quick Change Settingsand here is where you could very quickly change the colors scheme of your WordPress site. Also here, you can change your site’s layout.
2. For Layout Structure pick one with a right sidebar. My preference is the 960PX Right sidebar with dual stacked right sidebars.
3. The Blog / Sidebar Widths button will allow you to change the width of your blog side bars. But none of these changes are necessary and I would suggest that you leave them alone.
4. The Background / Borders button allows changing the color, gradient and design of the site background as well as control the color and thickness of its borders. I’m leaving them alone for now.
5. This Blog Overall Fonts / Colors button allows choosing from various available font styles and colors as well as changing the color of the blog content container background. I’m leaving them alone for now.
6. The Headerbutton enables you to change the look and feel of the site header but also enables inclusion of a title, a tagline, navigation buttons, site search options, RSS, etc.
- You can use the default, plain header, or you can upload a header image (as a .jpg file) and have a real image as a header. Make sure that when you create your header image you create it to be the same width as your blog settings. In my case i need to create a header that is 960X wide. But I will do that after i get some content written. Remember that content is king.
- For now, I am changing the Display search box in header? and the Display RSS subscription area? to NO. We will get back to these later, but we will put them somewhere else besides the header.
7. Sidebars offer you the flexibility to list different types of things by using widgets. WordPress comes with a lot of standard widgets like Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Post Categories, Links, and more. Plus you can create your own. All you do is drag and drop the widgets you want to display, into your sidebar, click save and you’re set.
For SEO friendly formatting put your Recent Posts and Recent Comment widgets at the top, then Categories below that. Links should be at the bottom so you can minimize people clicking out from your website.
8. Footersare often underused in WordPress blogs. For now, we have Footers turned off on our blog. We may use it later to add some discrete marketing info, but we need to be careful about having too much advertising on sites as it turns most people off.
