Writing Settings for your WordPress Blog

My Internet Marketing Journey to Success – 11

In the Writing section of the Settings tab on your WordPress Dashboard, you will want to increase the Size of the Post Box. Change it from 10 default to 20 or  22.  This will give you more space to work and still show the edit buttons above the window.

For now, you can skip the “Default Post Category and Default Link Category drop down boxes.  We will come back to those later.  However, I am going to change them now, but I have to switch to another part of the dashboard to do so.  Save your changes.

I went in to the Post Categories tab and I set up a Category called “Survival Skills”. Then I went back into the Writing section and change my Default Post Category from “uncategorized” to “survival skills”.

Likewise, I went in to the Link Categories tab and I added “Recommended Resources” as the default Link category.  Now i went back into my Default Link Category settings under Writing, and changed it from “blogroll” to “recommended resources.

It’s one of those situations where you can’t change A or B until you’ve changed D and E, but you have to change F and G first — or something like that.

You can skip everything else in this section EXCEPT make sure that
“Enable the Atom Publishing Protocol” and “Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols” are both checked.  This will be needed later on when we start publishing to social networks.
