CSS style for WordPress?

I'm looking to add some color to my wordpress widgets, similar to what is seen in the url http://blogdesignsolutions.com/category/blog-design/ I'm not too familiar with CSS, but have had success hacking my theme based on snippets I find and listen there. I was hoping someone I could go through the process or direct me to a course online. Thanks
